The College of Mathematics and Sciences (CMS) is comprised of six departments which all have the goal of engaging students through inquiry, innovation, and technology. Our academic focus is centered around our desire to learn about and improve the human condition and the natural world. Students are prepared for entrance into the workforce or advanced studies due to a strong academic foundation and experiential learning opportunities, such as internships and undergraduate research. CMS includes approximately 65 full-time faculty and 1000 students.

General Statement of Duties:
The Psychology department at Westfield State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Educational or School Psychology, starting September 1, 2020. The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching Introduction to Psychology and Educational Psychology, and will also be able to contribute to the department's Research Methods in Psychology sequence. Preference will be given to candidates with scholarly interests in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates who are also qualified to teach one or more of the following are encouraged to apply: Lifespan Development, Adult Development and Aging, Cross Cultural Psychology, Psychology of Racism, and/or Industrial Organizational Psychology.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:

• Teaching 4 classes each semester, including:
  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Educational Psychology
  • Classes in the department's Research Methods sequence (Research Methods I, Statistics, and/or Research Methods II)
  • Additional classes in the candidate's area of expertise.
• Academic advising
• Continuing scholarship
• Professional service to the University and/or broader community

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

• A doctorate in Educational or School Psychology or closely related field (ABD will be considered) by the time of employment.
• Ability to teach the courses listed in the job responsibilities.

Preferred Qualification

• Experience teaching at the collegiate level.
• Scholarship in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Academic qualifications to teach one or more of the following: Lifespan Development, Adult Development and Aging, Cross Cultural Psychology, Psychology of Racism, and/or Industrial Organizational Psychology
