The Student Enrichment Advisor leads the process of application evaluation and selection for the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Science (KFAS) Professional Development Initiative (PDI) program administered by IIE. This position is responsible for making final recommendations on students’ readiness for professional training (OPT), developing a professional profile for each candidate, and support in identifying ideal US companies to host them. Additionally, the position oversees the completion of skills development courses, provide monthly career coaching, and monitoring their progress during their employment, and report on their progress.

THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT ON FUNDING.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate and interview candidates to assess and identify potential participants in the program among list of applicants.
  • Develop internal processes to initiate work with Fellows.
  • Develop a professional profile for each Fellow, and support in identifying ideal US companies to host them.
  • Provide individualized coaching on monthly basis to develop a strategic career roadmap and approaches to OPT placement, conduct goal setting and review, mock interviews, and competency assessments.
  • Identify and recommend the Fellow’s attendance at least two career-focused events, such as job fairs or conferences, based on their unique interests and prepare them to optimize their participation.
  • Conduct monthly check-ins with Fellows who have secured OPT opportunities to evaluate well-being and progress related to career goals.
  • Coach Fellows on working in companies, maximizing opportunities for personal and professional development, and assessing and adjusting career goals.
  • Assist Fellows in identifying and securing professional development opportunities, such as attending supplemental talks, webinars, or trainings.
  • Provide support to Fellows encountering difficulties or challenges in the workplace.
  • Develop and lead a reentry webinar for Fellows upon completion of their OPT assignments.
  • Produce monthly reports on Fellows’ job search status to KFAS and wellbeing after OPT experience.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.
  • Requires at least two years of related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of the complexities of different application and database systems.
  • Ability to manage a large volume of work under severe time constraints and pressures, while demonstrating creativity and suggesting innovative yet practical solutions to new challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and superior writing and editing skills and a thorough knowledge of the English language.
  • Must exhibit maturity, be comfortable with meeting facilitation and have the ability to us diplomacy in difficult situations.
  • Is a team player; contributes to the team as well as handles tasks assigned by more than one supervisor.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suites including Word, Excel and Outlook, possible specialty in specific online/non-online application systems.
  • Willingness and availability to travel.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

Essential functions are performed in a general office setting with low noise. Job demands may require long periods of sitting; telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other team members and external stakeholders.
