JOB SUMMARY:

 

 

We seek a dynamic, collaborative program director who has an established track record for high quality curricular development at the university level and who is interested in preparing Nurse Practitioners for 21st Century careers. The successful candidate will have a unique and exciting mandate and will work to design, build and nurture the University's offerings to attain enhanced student achievement and external recognition.

 

 

An appreciation for an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative and innovative approaches in on-line instruction and academic program development.

 

 

The BSN to DNP/FNP program is designed primarily as a post-baccalaureate Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program of study leading to a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). The Program Director (PD) provides instruction, direction, and oversight for the FNP program. They will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the program and will function under the supervision of the Chief Nurse Administrator

 

 

They will be academically and experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected program and student learning outcomes; is vested to provide effective leadership to students, program staff and faculty in alignment with the standards and guidelines of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

 

 

The Director will report directly to the Chief Nurse Administrator and carry a course load of 24 credits with an annual course release of six credits as program director and will demonstrate the ability to creatively engage students in didactic and experiential learning opportunities in the on-line environment, collaborate with other undergraduate and graduate program leaders, and other faculty members/staff of the university.

 

 

The position is a 12-month appointment and will be hired at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with teaching and program development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

 

 

Bay Path University's School of Education, Human and Health Sciences houses the University's Genetic Counseling, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Healthcare Management, Public Health, Clinical Mental Health and Programs in Education, Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis. Through evidence-based practice and project-based learning, most of these programs prepare health care professionals for success in a rapidly changing global environment, with applied work, clinical rotations, practicums and fieldwork assignments.

 

 

The scholar selected for this position will join a collaborative and dedicated School which emphasizes excellence in education at all levels. The director will be expected to participate in curriculum and programmatic development and innovation; advisement of graduate students; participate actively in local, state, and national professional organizations; and contribute to the service mission of the University and the School.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

 

Program Director:

 

 

The PD, in coordination with the Chief Nurse Administrator shall have the authority, accountability and responsibility that come with academic and administrative oversight of all aspects of the DNP/FNP program including, but not limited to:

 

 

  • Provides effective leadership, direction and support in implementing the vision, mission, strategic plan, and core commitments of the DNP/FNP program in alignment with the University's and School's strategic plan.
  • Holds regular meetings with the Chief Nurse Administrator and involved faculty to facilitate communication concerning academic, student and course issues; provides feedback to faculty concerning course and programmatic evaluations.
  • Manages FNP faculty assignments.
  • Develops the DNP/FNP course schedule to align with other programs and cohort site requirements.
  • Engages in scholarly activities.
  • Develops working relationship within the larger University, and with local communities, practice partners and other key stakeholders that promotes intra- and inter school collaboration and communication.
  • Leads curriculum development and instructional advancement in the DNP/FNP program.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Nurse Administrator:
    • Assumes responsibility for program budget management.
    • Recruits, supervises and evaluates program faculty.
    • Develop, submit and maintain all assigned records and documents as required by accrediting agencies (i.e., CCNE) such as self-studies, program reviews, and annual reports.
  • Responsible for review and program approval processes as required by the University and accrediting bodies, including the maintenance and submission of records and reports as needed.
  • Develops program description and associated program information for publication in the University catalog and Web page. Reviews this information on an annual basis with regard to program curricula and makes appropriate recommendations for changes in order to keep information current.
  • Maintains communication and works cooperatively with practicum coordinator.
  • Assists with student recruitment through on-going information sessions and open-houses, and other recruitment activities
  • Plans and implements new student orientation and coordinates on-going student advising.
  • In collaboration with the Center for On-line Learning and assigned Instructional Designer(s) works to develop and maintain courses in Canvas LMS.
  • In collaboration with the Hatch Library personnel works to establish DNP-FNP library resource site for program and student access
  • Is a member of the program's Advisory Committee which must meet at least once annually for input and reporting processes.
  • Maintains knowledge and skills in the area of clinical expertise (i.e., through direct care, coordinator of care, staff development continuing education, health policy, consultation).
  • Maintains advanced certification in area of expertise.
  • Maintains a defined area of clinical practice.
  • Attend additional training as required.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the University.

 

 


Requirements:

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  • A MSN, FNP degree required.
  • Earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, DNS, DNP) in nursing or related field required, DNP strongly preferred.
  • Current, active, and unencumbered license in Massachusetts, or eligible for licensure, as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Current, active, and unencumbered license as a FNP Advanced Practice Registered Nurse required.
  • National certification as an advanced practice registered nurse required.
  • Previous experience as a FNP Program director strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years' clinical practice as a nurse practitioner (NP) within the last 5 five years, strongly preferred.
  • Active and current clinical practice as an APRN.
  • Experience in both on-line course development and on-line teaching required
  • Experience in a DNP/FNP academic program or previous experience in nursing academic program strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the University and to the highest standards of the profession of Nursing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, use good judgment, work in a vibrant academic environment and meet deadlines.
  • Computer literacy and proficient with computer Learning Management Systems (LMS) strongly preferred.
  • Skillful problem-solving capabilities.
  • Online teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • An ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Adept interpersonal skills and communication: personally, via phone, email and web-conferencing.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire (within 15-days) and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and within FERPA and HIPPA guidelines.
  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
