Position Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Learning & Research Technology Services and Support, the Learning & Research Technology Systems Admninistrator (LRTSA) develops and coordinates the implementation of Campus Library Instructional Computing Commons (CLICC) MacOS and Windows desktop images as well as the systems that support instructional technology services in support of students, faculty and staff. The LRTSA supports and updates technology services related to learning and research related applications as well as supports specialty systems and applications in areas such as the East Asian Library, Library Special Collections, Music Library and Arts Library. In supporting laptops, desktops and other instructional technology devices, the LRTSA configures and manages software and security on workstations, laptops, and other devices; Consults, maintains, trains on, and supports Windows, Mac and Chromebook operating systems in various instructional, presentation, and service spaces; supervises student staff working in CLICC and the Library Service desks in support of instructional technology systems and devices; manages device management systems while consulting on purchases, configurations, and services related to the use of learning and research services technologies in the Library. The LRTSA serves as project manager or technical lead for projects that involve learning and research software, workstations, and systems including peripherals such as audio-visual devices, scanners, and printers.

The Learning & Research Technology Services and Support (LRTSS) team supports technology for staff, faculty and students within the UCLA Library. LRTSS provides instructional technology space management, audio/visual systems support, technology resources scheduling, desktop and laptop image building and training for the UCLA Library. The team helps manage the CLICC services such as laptop lending and computer classrooms support. The LRTSS team is part of the Digital Initiatives and Information Technology Operations and Services group (DIITOS) that is part of the larger Digital Initiatives and Information Technology (DIIT) within the Library.

Digital Initiatives and Information Technology (DIIT), a unit of approximately 40 people, is responsible for the systems development and operations for all of the Libraries at UCLA. Systems include both custom and licensed applications for both web and client server systems. The infrastructure includes approximately 1,000 workstations, 300 servers with over 2 petabytes of storage supporting applications used worldwide via the Internet. DIIT supports library staff and users by providing access to library technologies via the campus network infrastructure backbone. Supported technology resources include the integrated library system and online catalog; network connectivity including servers, storage, operating system and application server delivery; and programming and application development in support of digital and web based initiatives. Through collaborative efforts with all areas of UCLA's libraries, DIIT assists in the development and delivery of technologies for all types of electronic resources. DIIT is comprised of four teams: Operations and Services (including Core Operations, Development Support, Logistics, and Learning & Research Technology Services & Support),
Library Web Services, the Digital Library Program, and Data Services. DIIT's staff members also work as collaborative partners with units in other areas of the library, and provide technology support for the major business systems used by the libraries.

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
