Events and Communications Coordinator - Global Human Development Program

Requirements

The Events and Communications Coordinator manages events and communications for the Global Human Development (GHD) program. S/he works closely with other faculty and staff of the program. Reporting to the Director of GHD, the Events and Communications Coordinator has additional duties that include but are not limited to:
Events Management
  • Manages GHD events, including, but not limited to, conferences, lectures, VIP visits, book talks, recognition ceremonies, receptions, and lunches. Responsibilities include:
    • Working with stakeholders on development of program and schedule;
    • Negotiating contracts with vendors;
    • Working with the SFS BSC to ensure timely submission and approval of contracts;
    • Reserving venues;
    • Generating advertisements, invitations, and associated correspondence;
    • Creating/updating mailing lists and managing events from setup to cleanup;
    • Coordinating with media, student groups, or any other organization involved in the event;
    • Coordinating with SFS Communications on media for events;
    • Coordinating with the University Office of Communications on protocol and security;
    • Arranging visitor transportation and lodging;
    • Coordinating with other departments or external groups for events in which GHD is a partner or participant; and
    • Any other duties as related to the planning of an event.

Communications and Outreach
  • Creates, maintains, and promotes content on the GHD website and updates social media on a daily basis, working closely with SFS Communications on technical issues.
  • Assists the Director with building a content marketing strategy for GHD.
  • Prepares and publishes various promotional materials, newsletters, and annual reports for GHD.
  • Works closely with the SFS Communications team on visual identity, branding, and events that will generate media coverage.
  • Maintains contact databases.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of experience in event management and communications or closely related experience
  • Proficiency in technologies related to the duties of the position, including social media and marketing
  • Must demonstrate a high level of organization and attention to detail
  • Experience in higher education and interest in international relations preferred
