Basic Function

Provide individual and/or group tutoring to students in one or more of the following subject areas:
• English
• Writing
• ESL
• Foreign Language
• History
• Psychology

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Tutor you will

•Assist students in improving academic achievements by meeting with them as needed to clarify learning problems and work on study skills.

•Provide additional assistance to include reviewing class material, discussing the text, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers or working on solutions to problems.

•Provide administrative and clerical support to the Tutoring Center, and collect and report program data.

Minimum Qualifications

•Completion of the equivalent of one (1) years’ worth of college-level coursework
•Successful completion of course(s) that are to be tutored with an A or higher

Preferred Qualifications

•Completed Associates Degree in Liberal Arts or Social Sciences focus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Must be patient, responsible, and dependable
•Must demonstrate outstanding customer service in the tutoring center.
•Must have the ability to assist students in improving academic achievements by meeting as needed to clarify learning challenges and help with study skills.
•Must have basic computer skills.
•Ability to assist student in improving academic achievements by meeting with them as needed to clarify learning problems and work on study skills.
•Additional assistance might include reviewing class material, discussing the text, predicting test question, formulating ideas for papers or working on solutions to problems.
