The Office of Advancement supports the mission of Georgetown University, its faculty, and students by developing relationships with key constituencies, connecting with alumni, and working with donors to help them know and understand opportunities for partnership with the university.

The Senior Gift Data Analyst is primarily responsible for reviewing and analyzing complex gift data as reflected within GU360 after recording by the Gift Processing department. Gift Administration processes about 100,000 gifts per year, totaling $240M+ in annual fundraising to the university. S/he runs regular reports from GU360 to analyze, review, correct and report on complex gifts and recording issues. The incumbent understands the financial and accounting principles of all Office of Advancement gift processing and makes recommendations for increasing productivity and accuracy. Reporting to the Manager, Gift Accounting and Donor Compliance, the Senior Gift Data Analyst has additional duties that include but are not limited to:

Complex Gift Data Analysis
  • Serves as the system expert for complex gift matters in support of the Director of Gift Accounting, and the Manager of Gift Accounting and Donor Compliance.
  • Works closely with the Gift Accounting and Gift Processing Teams, Information Management Group, and Advancement staff to identify and recommend the process for correcting complex gifts within the system; These complex gifts vary in nature and complexity and include situations such as duplicate voids, pledge payments without a payment flag, pledges that could not be voided, and multi-step giving history corrections.
  • Runs regular reports to review pledges and balances, gift analysis reports, and ensures that gift designation accurately affects donor intent and are in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Identifies root causes and solutions for the corrections and address these promptly.


Gift Reporting and Quality Control
  • Manages financial reporting to the General Accounting Office and addresses gift correction inquiries from Finance promptly.
  • Notifies University Finance of any gift corrections that impact the General Ledger accounting so that these can be accurately recorded in the financial statements.
  • Works closely with the Staff Accountant for the reconciliation of the lockbox bank account, addressing complex gift correction issues.
  • Develops and creates meaningful reports from GU360/AQ to inform the strategy used by the Gift Accounting team to ensure accurate gift data on the donor's record.
  • Analyzes gift corrections data and recommends solutions by working closely with the Chief Data Officer, Gift Processing team, and other departments as needed.
  • Recommends gift processing quality control parameters to identify and finds ways to reduce processing errors.


GU360/AQ Expert on Gift Analysis
  • Attends GU360/AQ meetings and updates the Office on matters that pertain to donor compliance and accurate gift accounting.
  • Trains the gift processing staff on matters that lead to gift correction issues.
  • Serves on any committees related to GU360 developments in support of the Gift Administration Department.
  • Understands the role reports play in the GU360/AQ implementation and through future upgrades and testing of functionality.
  • Ensures workflow meets monthly close deadlines and other financial deadlines.
  • Reviews other's work as a peer review to ensure accuracy and timeliness when necessary.


Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Technology or closely related field
  • A minimum of three to five years professional level related experience preferably with a University or other nonprofit organization
  • Must have the capabilities of making sound decisions, exercising good judgment, and interacting with a diverse constituency
  • Possesses strong communication skills, and demonstrated capacity for increased responsibilities in administrative, analytical, financial experiences
  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of standards related to gift administration such as CASE Standards, FASB Accounting rules, and IRS guidelines
  • A solid background in Google email/calendar/documents, Microsoft Excel, and demonstrated writing
  • Knowledgeable in programming languages, software testing and software maintenance, compiling data from systems, and presenting the analysis
  • Experience with SalesForce is preferred
