Position Description:
The First Hand will function as the assistant to the Head Cutter/Draper and is responsible for assisting in the execution of student designs by overseeing cutting, fitting, constructing and altering of theatrical costumes for the UCLA Department of Theater, Film and Television's theatrical productions. The First Hand will be a part of a costume team and will participate in the realization of student designs in a fast paced environment under the guidance of the Head Cutter/Draper and Costume Shop Manager. The First Hand will aid the design faculty and other staff in teaching these skills to graduate and undergraduate costume design students and provide a professional caliber of expertise. Must be a self-starter with ability to work in a fast paced environment.
