This position is responsible for facilitating effective HR/AP service delivery to IRLE, serving as the primary HR business partner and liaison between IRLE and Central HR/APO. Ensures the efficient flow of information and coordinates and conducts activities to best serve IRLE needs in a timely manner. This position involves recommending, developing, implementing, administering, coordinating, documenting and/or evaluating Human Resources policies, labor contracts, statutes, programs and procedures covering several of the following: recruitment, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, welfare programs, training and development, visa procurement, intercampus transfers, and employee services. This position will report to the SHARE supervisor, but will also have a dotted line reporting to the IRLE Assistant Director.
  • Counsels department managers and supervisors on employee and labor policies, procedures, and appropriate practices regarding performance management, compensation/classification, managing disability, leaves of absence, training and other areas of HR.
  • Completes HR paperwork, obtains necessary approvals, follows up on the approvals required from other offices on behalf of IRLE (e.g. Central HR, VCRO, APO, OFEW, Labor Relations, UC Path), enters, tracks and oversees ServiceNow tickets, keeps employees and managers informed about the status of HR requests and escalates issues to SHARE and IRLE Supervisors when needed.
  • Manages recruitment cycle for a full range of staff and academic positions, including development of job description, compensation/classification research, filling out recruitment forms, coordinating position control approval, liaison and tracking of recruitment activities such as job postings, closeout reports, documentation, offer letters, onboarding, etc.
  • Manages performance review cycle, merit/equity/range adjustments and ensures accuracy of results and pay, escalating to SHARE payroll and tracking corrections and/or updates as needed.
  • Ensures that all new appointments and changes in appointment are coordinated correctly. Audits UCPath and/or other systems each term to ensure employee information is accurate and works to address any errors in a timely manner.
  • Counsels supervisors concerning sensitive and difficult to resolve work-related problems.
  • Represents SHARE HR at meetings, on working groups and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains IRLE employee appointment folders in the IRLE shared drive and other miscellaneous HR related duties including on-boarding for IRLE hires.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or 3 - 5 years combined experience/education in human resources, organizational development, and/or training and development.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service in high volume, fast-paced, professional environment.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources.
  • In-depth knowledge of disability case management and proven ability to follow through and focus on resolving cases in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse client groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to apply skills in a consultative way.
  • Demonstrates skill in prioritizing competing work assignments, and timelines.
  • Employing political & interpersonal acumen to analyze information to determine appropriate courses of action and their implications
  • Possesses strong analytical, active listening and critical thinking skills.
