The Nazareth College School of Music invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position in choral music education at the rank of Assistant Professor of Music and includes a salary commensurate with expertise, experience, and qualifications beginning in August 2020.

Applicants with expertise in choral music education, choral conducting and rehearsal techniques, the choral singing voice, choral repertoire, and culturally relevant pedagogy are especially sought for this position. This individual will join colleagues at Nazareth College who value collaboration, innovation, equity, diversity, and inclusion in their shared work of preparing musicians and music education candidates. Applicants must have at least three (3) years of successful public-school teaching experience. Nazareth College is particularly interested in those who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for first-generation and under-represented groups. A strong commitment to successful student recruitment and retention is essential. A doctorate in Music Education is required (ABD will be considered if applicant’s degree will be conferred by beginning of employment).

The successful candidate will conduct a choral ensemble; teach courses in music education at the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise and mentor music education students; work closely with Program Directors in graduate and undergraduate music education; supervise student teachers; recruit students; work collaboratively with music faculty; and develop and maintain relationships with music educators and the music community at large.The position also carries an expectation of departmental and college committee service, the continued pursuit of scholarship, and participation in our annual performing arts season.
