Description
The carpenter reports to and works under the guidance of the Supervisor. Has medium to high level of expertise to perform skilled carpentry. Assist with the maintenance, repair and renovation of all carpentry aspects of University and Hospital buildings.  Maintains a safe and workable environment for all building users. Candidates should possess excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills. Focus on high quality work and efficiency is required.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a carpenter, or full journey status as a carpenter in a union or five years applicable work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Ability to access confined spaces and heights using appropriate safety procedures.
*Ability to work in an environment exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
*Ability to work in an environment exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
*Ability to work near moving mechanical parts.
*Ability to work in environment exposed to the risk of electrical shock.
*Ability to work in high, precarious places/locations.
*Ability to work in healthcare and research environments.
*Must be able to lift 10 to 75 pounds.
*Ability to work nights/weekends/early mornings.
*Ability to work overtime.
