DescriptionThe Receptionist/Scheduler processes telephone calls for theDepartment of Thoracic Medicine & Surgery promptly and professionally andis responsible for scheduling appointments. 

 

The Receptionist/Scheduler is also responsible for completingregistration when making appointments in IDX and scheduling same dayappointments and new patient appointments within a seven-day period.  Inaddition, if necessary, responsible for front desk registration and greetingall patients in a welcoming manner. When covering the ACD lines, registers andschedules all patients on the IDX system.  Obtains insurance informationand biographical data and scans patient information in Epic electronic medicalrecords system.  Verifies insurance information to ensure that coverage iscorrect, demographics appropriate and insurance policy numbers areupdated.  Collects co-insurance and co-payments.  Process referralsfrom insurance companies, call and research missing referrals and properlyenter into IDX system.  Performs other  duties as assigned.
 

Required Education and Experience:

At least three years’ experience working in a medical setting suchas a Physician’s Office, Hospital, Medical School/College, and/or MedicalPractice. An equivalent combination of education and experience may beconsidered.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Must be able to travel to offsite locations that may not beaccessible by public transportation.

*Demonstrated knowledge of Third-Party Billing.

*Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

*Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

*Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.

*Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.

 

Preferred:
*Prior experience working in EPIC and IDX systems.

*GE Centricity experience.

*Bilingual (Spanish).

 

This position requires a background check.
