Job Description

The Recruiter will assess hiring needs, make recommendations on hiring practices, and utilize creative strategies that elicit interest in employment opportunities at Wake Forest University. This individual is responsible for identifying and hiring credentialed faculty and staff, while creating an unparalleled candidate experience. The Recruiter will sustain and advance the University’s diversity recruitment strategy and consistently deliver upon best practices for search and selection in a higher education environment. Initially, the primary focus will be on addressing an immediate need for faculty and staff recruitment in the Undergraduate College and graduate schools.

Additional Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Sources talent through methods including, but not limited to: faculty and staff referral generation, networking, proactive outreach to passive prospects, social media and offline sourcing channels.

  • Develops networks of faculty and staff candidates representing diverse communities, identities, and perspectives; maintains well-organized prospect pools for current and future searches.

  • Serves as subject-matter expert regarding the talent recruiting process for full-time and adjunct faculty.

  • In consultation with the Director of Recruitment, conducts cyclical planning meetings with Deans, Department Heads, faculty, and staff in the Undergraduate College and Professional School; creates program-specific recruiting strategies to meet current and projected faculty and staff talent needs.

  • Builds applicant sources by contacting universities and other organizations, and fostering collaboration with other recruiters.

  • Delivers on established recruitment metrics, with a target of filling requisitions within 60 days.

  • Develops menus of advertising options that will help hiring managers promote openings to qualified audiences.

  • Represents the University at career fairs and other networking events, highlighting the benefits of teaching, researching, and working at Wake Forest and living in the Winston-Salem area.

  • Provides dual career assistance to partners and spouses who are relocating to the Winston-Salem or Charlotte areas.

  • Publishes articles that align with relevant trends, positioning Wake Forest as a recruitment influencer and driving candidates to University postings.

  • Reviews applicant qualifications, and provides recommendations that support strategic hiring decisions; creates presentations to convey recommendations to hiring managers and search committees.

  • Communicates frequently with active and passive candidates, and conducts informational interviews.

  • Mitigates risk for the University by understanding and adhering to current legislative requirements.

  • Helps candidates, schools, and departments navigate the international hiring process by remaining well-versed in regulations and required documentation.

  • Identifies ongoing opportunities to enhance the recruitment experience through innovation and process improvement.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience working with higher education constituents to recruit prospective faculty.

  • Knowledge of customer service standards, and the ability to project a cooperative and professional demeanor while working in a dynamic and diverse community.

  • Ability to create a strong first impression through the recruitment process for each applicant by being self-directed, detail-oriented, and driven to find the best applicants.

  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and personal accountability; ability to use independent judgment, manage sensitive information, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in social media, with direct experience recruiting via LinkedIn; Google applications; and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Experience with full lifecycle recruiting, including sourcing, networking, screening, and negotiation; aptitude to interact with all levels of academic and administrative leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; self-directed with the ability to work as a strategist, both collaboratively or individually.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong editing and proofreading skills; and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and accuracy; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems.

  • General knowledge of HR functions and employment laws, guidelines, and procedures.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Experience working in a higher education institution that emphasizes teaching and research.

  • Proficiency with the Workday system.
