This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary). This position is designated exemptunder FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The Supervisor, Admissions and Evaluations (Student Services Professional IV) oversees the application and admission process for students pursuing credit and degrees through San Diego State University’s College of Extended Studies. This position frequently interacts with prospective students and applicants with questions and concerns concerning admissions requirements, transfer equivalency, and document requirements. In addition, the position collaborates with CES staff and SDSU departments to resolve customer service and admissions issues. This position is also responsible for comprehensive training of Evaluations staff and daily workflow and serves as lead to Evaluation staff on admission and evaluation policies and procedures.

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $6,000 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,351 - $7,633 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related.

Possession of the below required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems.

A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling, guidance or a job-related field may be substituted for two years of the required professional experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional, personal or career counseling.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

• Experience hiring, training and supervising staff members
• 5 years of evaluation/registrar experience in a higher education setting
• Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university
• 5 years progressively more complex administrative experience
• Advanced computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, database systems and student information systems
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of University student admission process
• Ability to interpret policies, manuals and procedural documents
• Strong accuracy and attention to details
• Ability to apply judgement and discretion in performing complex administrative duties
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to teach/train in registration/student information systems
• Knowledge of admissions best practices
• Knowledge of Higher Reach, SIMS, PeopleSoft, Cashnet and Virtual Merchant
• Experience working in a continuing education or adult learner institution
• Experience working with international evaluations
