The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director, Marketing & Assessment for University Centers and is responsible for new and innovative marketing for the student union facilities, programs, and services. Develops and implements student union outreach activities to engage both students and staff, and implements marketing plans to improve awareness and branding. Serves as the Marketing Traffic Coordinator by overseeing production calendars, routing folders, marketing documents, department logos, and archives. Composes creative copy for campaigns, annual reports, websites, and publications.
This position uses marketing concepts in performing non-complex responsibilities such as planning, developing and implementing basic marketing plans, drafting promotional or marketing materials, working on marketing events, conducting basic market research and assessment,etc.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Graduation from college with a major in marketing, communications, social or human sciences, or business management or related subjects required; or combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, strategies and best practices. Previous marketing, sales or customer public relations or similar experience.
Knowledge, skill, and ability to conceive, develop, plan and implement innovative marketing programs that include a variety of media (e.g., web, print, video, displays) to promote the University Centers’ facilities, conference and meeting services, retail opportunities, and programs and events.
Proven ability to analyze market needs and target audience demographics to develop a range of promotional materials, in various media. Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
Strong writing skill including knowledge of proper grammar, syntax, flow, and vocabulary to compose compelling copy for target audiences. Ability to edit and revise copy submitted by others. Knowledge of AP style guide for writing. Ability to use inclusive language.
Ability to recruit, train, and supervise student employees responsible for marketing programs. Knowledge of student development and ability to apply this knowledge when working with student employees and student leaders.
Knowledge of the campus and/or medical center including its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives and infrastructure. Ability to craft messages that represent the voice, style and brand of the department and campus.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of customer service standards/procedures. Ability to write promotional and informational marketing campaigns in a clear and concise manner. Ability to collaborate well with other team members.
Proficiency using Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word. Knowledge and ability to use personal computers and various software including spreadsheets, word processing, relational databases and email.
Strong organizational skills and skills in file creation, maintenance and management.
Thorough knowledge of institutional products and services.
Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums and funding sources.
