Uses a public health approach to identify priorities, plan, implement, and evaluate theory/evidence based, innovative programs that focus on individuals and their environment.
Participates in university and community committees and task forces as needed and collaborates with key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to promote positive social and physical environments to support students' success.
Researches and develops resources for prevention efforts related to health and safety. Collaborate with staff in other health promotion and prevention areas as needed. Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of theory and evidence-based health promotion strategies, policies, programs and services related to wellness and risk management.
Assists in the recruitment, training, and supervision of student volunteers and student-staff (peer educators, interns, etc.).Qualifications Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma and seven years of experience related to the duties of this position.
(Note: a combination of post high education and experience equal to seven years.)
Collaborative work style with self-directed initiative and great presentation skills.
Experience working with college student populations, multicultural groups, fraternity and sorority groups or student organizations.
Experience developing prevention initiatives/programs.
Familiar with health promotion theories, evidence based best practices, outcome evaluation, statistical analysis, and health behavior research methodologies.
Ability to provide leadership and problem solving skills in analyzing health and safety needs of college students.
Ability to incorporate multicultural diversity and social justice concepts and principles into health and wellness.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; computer literate
Successful completion of a post hire PPD (TB) test and OSHA training.Preferred Master's degree in public health, health promotion, health education, higher education, or related field and two years of experience.
Certified Health Education Specialist.
At least 3 years of current, relevant experience in college health promotion, hazing prevention education, wellness and early intervention.Pay Plan This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.Schedule Occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
