The CALS Business Operations (CBO) is an administrative unit within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and has oversight of the College’s centralized financial and research administration services including, Business Services, Budgets and Planning, Research Administration, and Operational Support. The CBO’s mission is to provide exceptional customer service while supporting efficient and ethical use of resources. The CBO upholds the academic, research, and extension goals and initiatives of the CALS community. The CBO is committed to providing exemplary and responsive customer care, to serving as subject matter expert regarding applicable state, university and federal policies, procedures, rules and regulations, and to achieving and maintaining operational excellence.

Essential Job Duties

The primary purpose of the position is to review and approve all financial transactions at the college level to ensure accuracy and compliance to State, Federal, Sponsored Programs, and University policies, guidelines, terms and conditions. The approver is responsible for identifying issues, initiating corrections, and providing on the spot training for the processors. The approver will assist with answering processing questions.

Minimum Experience/Education

High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Departmental Required Skills
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel or similar computer product.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • Four year degree in business administration or accounting and one year experience.
  • Two year degree in business admin or accounting and three years of experience, or an equivalent level of a combination of training and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials and University Financial policies and procedures.
Required License or Certification
