Associate / Full Professor - Cardiac Surgery
Job FieldThe Department of Surgery at the University Health Network is conducting a search for a full-time permanent academic surgeon to join the faculty of the Division of Cardiac Surgery. The effective date of this appointment is April 1, 2020.
The successful applicant will establish and support a minimally invasive coronary artery and cardiac valve surgery program at UHN. The successful applicant will have several years of experience with complex valve surgery including mitral valve repair. Extensive experience with minimally invasive cardiac surgical approaches is essential.
The successful candidate must be capable of functioning in English, should have an established record of scholarly achievement with excellence in teaching and research and be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate should have an MD, MBBS or equivalent and also be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Compensation is primarily fee for service and will be approximately $600,000 (CDN). Additional compensation may be provided commensurate with qualifications and experience
The University Health Network is comprised of the Toronto General and Western Hospitals, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and the Michener Institute and is one of Canada’s largest and leading academic hospitals. The Division of Cardiovascular Surgery within the Peter Munk Cardiac Program currently has 9 full time active clinical surgeons and 2 full time scientists who actively collaborate in patient care, teaching and research. The clinical programs at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre include a large volume of adult patients that require cardiac surgery, transcatheter valve therapies, heart transplant, mechanical circulatory support and management of adult congenital heart disease. The Centre also has an active educational role in the teaching of residents, clinical and research fellows.
