Job Summary
Create and implement curriculum for educational programs of the Marine Education Center (MEC).

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Implements the educational programs of the MEC to include programs for students, teachers, lifelong learners, and the general public, to include coordinating transportation and the use of University vehicles.

  2. Create biology and environmental science based curriculum for K-12 programs.

  3. Data collection and entry for various projects and grants.

  4. Train seasonal educators on policies and procedures and curriculum/programs of the Marine Education Center.

  5. Stay up to date on CPR, first aid, and water safety qualifications and implement when needed.

  6. Use and maintain sampling and scientific equipment.This may require one time or recurring special training.

  7. Undertakes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a natural science, science education, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Ability to complete water safety training upon hire.
Certification in basic first aid and CPR or ability to complete upon hire.
Ability to communicate with diverse groups.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time.
Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
Ability to train others.
Skill in the use of standard tools and equipment of the profession.
Ability to engage students and to create and enhance their connection to the institution and each other.

Preferred Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License.
