Assistant Professor, Public Administration/Policy, College of Charleston
Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science at the College of Charleston invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in public administration/policy beginning August 2020. The ideal candidate will have the skills necessary to teach and develop courses that incorporate issues of equity and justice, ethnic diversity, and race for both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Additional teaching requirements include American politics, public administration/policy, as well as core and elective classes in public administration. Ability to teach research methods at the undergraduate and graduate level a plus. The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience mentoring and advising students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students who represent historically oppressed and marginalized identities. A PhD in Political Science, Public Administration, or a closely related field is required.

The Political Science Department has 20 full-time faculty, over 360 undergraduate majors , and a Geography Minor. The department also supports a NASPAA Accredited Master of Public Administration and Master of Science in Environmental Studies programs.

The College of Charleston is located in historic downtown Charleston in a coastal metropolitan area of 750,000. The College is a public, liberal arts and sciences institution with a student body consisting of approximately 10,000 undergraduate students and 900 graduate students, including 20% of whom identify as minority and 140 international students from 34 different countries.
