DescriptionPosition Overview:

The Concurrent Enrollment program (CE) has an opening for a fulltime Academic Advisor.  The CE programbrings college classes to high school campuses in the Treasure Valley andsurrounding areas.  Students at the highschool, in their junior and senior year, may enroll in pre-approved classes forboth high school and college credit.  TheAcademic Advisor will provide academic advising to students who participate inthe Sophomore Start (30 credits) and Associate Degree (60 credits) optionswithin concurrent enrollment. Candidate will work to maintain continualcommunication with high school districts and Boise State student affairs andacademic departments.  The academicadvisor for concurrent enrollment will focus on student recruitment, studenttracking, and student and parent/guardian support. The CE program is wellestablished and a leader in concurrent enrollment administration with over 20years in programming experience.

 Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identifyand develop close working relationships with high school partners, students andtheir parent/guardians as well as with University student affairs and academicdepartments.
  • Workcollaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Makeindividual classroom presentations to high school students explaining thebenefits of participating in concurrent enrollment and the credit milestone ofthe Sophomore Start and Associate degree options and registration process ofthe program.
  • Providetimely and consistent academic advising and support for high school students andparents/guardians and school college and career advisors.
  • Createprogram reports to keep school districts informed about program growth.
  • Assistwith fall and spring student presentations on the registration process using Dualenroll.comand PeopleSoft system.
  • Becomeknowledgeable about Idaho’s Fast Forward Advanced Opportunities.
  • Attend programming events on campus and at the high schools with some events taking place in the evenings and weekends, mainly in the fall and early spring.
  • Assist with coordinating student orientation events for high school students and their parent/guardians by organizing events, creating print and web materials highlighting concurrent enrollment options. 
The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service in small and large group setting.
  • Be willing to work some evening and Saturday outreach events.
  • Complete and balance multiple work projects, respond with adaptability to rapidly changing priorities, and work well under pressure.
  • Strong project management skills, be detail-oriented with a high level of energy, integrity and enthusiasm.
  • Skills in collaboration and negotiation to achieve a desired outcome.
  • Ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations, use sound, independent judgment within general policy and legal guidelines.
  • Assimilate and organize materials and ideas to communicate effectively in a variety of forms.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and experience maintaining content on a website.
  • Communicate in a professional manner both in person and via electronic meditated modes.
  • Understand the online learning environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with and elicit cooperation from colleagues, members of external groups, and co-workers on complex issues.
  • Represent Boise State, Concurrent Enrollment in a professional manner, when speaking with customers, community members, and university colleagues. 

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent1 or more year(s) experience in Student Services or Higher Education Administration OR 2 or more years customer service experience providing professional-level advice.Must be able to drive up to and from high school locations in a 75 mile radius. Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience providing academic advising in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or similar student information system.
  • Proficiency in Spanish
