DescriptionPosition Overview

TheTitle IX Coordinator serves as the institution’s key resource in the oversightof compliance efforts consistent with Boise State University’s Policy on SexualMisconduct (Policy 1065), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, theViolence Against Women’s Act (VAWA) and the Campus Sexual Violence EliminationAct (Campus SaVE). The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for assisting andeducating the campus community regarding its obligations under Title IX andserves as the primary internal resource for Title IX complaints. This positionreports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts the intake, investigation, processing, issuing of findings of fact, and timely resolution of all Title IX complaints made known to responsible employees and/or reported or filed by students, faculty, staff, third parties, or members of the community
  • Works collaboratively with the Gender Equity Center, Dean of Students, Public Safety, Human Resources, and other divisions and departments, as needed, regarding complaint referrals, investigations, resolutions, and reporting
  • Develops, coordinates, delivers, and tracks University-wide training on the University’s Title IX policy
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates campus strategic efforts aimed at the prevention of sexual violence and other forms of sex or gender based discrimination
  • Provides ongoing training, consultation and technical assistance on Title IX matters for all employees including how to identify and report Title IX violations; the University’s responsibility to address Title IX violations; recognizing warning signals; and reporting Title IX violations in accordance with University policy
  • Chairs the Title IX Committee and oversees work of related subcommittees
  • Organizes and maintains Title IX case files, disposition reports and other records related to Title IX cases
  • Oversees and monitors case management database with organizes Title IX incidents in an effort to ensure an effective and efficient response to both formal and informal complaints
  • Prepares periodic reports on the number, nature and disposition of Title IX complaints
  • Works closely with Public Safety to ensure compliance with Clery Act reporting and other associated Title IX compliance and administrative reporting requirements
  • Identifies areas of concern that may arise and addresses these concerns in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Analyzes campus trends pertaining to Title IX matters through data collection, climate assessment, and pattern monitoring
  • Remains knowledgeable and keeps abreast of current federal and state laws, regulations and policies related to Title IX
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree, Juris Doctor or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in Title IX, equal employment opportunity (EEO), or other non-discrimination based work
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Conducted Title IX or discrimination related investigations at an institute of higher education
  • Experience providing training across broad institutional lines on laws, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience writing clear, concise investigation reports
  • Writing samples may be required prior to on-campus interviews
  • The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and guidelines, and sensitivity and commitment in conducting non-biased, neutral, fact-finding investigations related to Title IX
  • Experience working in a diverse workforce with faculty, staff and students
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with diplomacy; the ability to exercise sound judgement, and to act calmly and objectively in the face of sensitive situations
  • Interest, experience, and/or ability to promote cultural competency and/or diversity
  • Salary and benefitsThesalary for this position is between $85,000 - $100,500 DOE. Boise StateUniversity offers an excellent benefits package toeligible employees.
