The UNC Department of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an independent and motivated postdoctoral candidate to work with Dr. Whitney Robinson, an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and expert in quantitative methods to assess racial/ethnic and gender differences in health. This is a full-time research position. The successful candidate will support research projects using health systems data (e.g., data derived from electronic medical records) to investigate racial, socioeconomic, and geographic differences in women’s gynecologic healthcare and well-being. Key tasks will include data analysis and preparation of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts for publication. There will also be ample opportunities for initiating independent research projects in the health care and population health domain.

The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will interface with a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, including public health graduate students, biostatisticians, analysts, and other research and administrative staff at units such as our CTSI, North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute; the Carolina Population Center, the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, and health care delivery systems.

This position is a combination of self-directed research as well as support of existing grant projects. Approximately 20% of time will be spent on the Post-Doctoral Research Associate’s own research and the remaining 80% will be comprised of research supporting other projects. Additionally, the position offers support for professional development, including travel to a professional meeting. The position is renewable after the first year.
