DESCRIPTION Areyou an excellent communicator, interested in exploring the scientific discoveries, technological advances, behavioralpractices, and social norms that will allow century long lives to be healthyand rewarding. If so, the StanfordCenter on Longevity is currently seeking a full-time Social Science ResearchProfessional for a 12- month fixed-term role with the possibility of renewal.

The Social Science Research Professional at the Stanford Center onLongevity supports the research, writing and conference planning needs of the Center.This includes conducting and compiling research, contributing writing, andcreating graphics for internal and external communications including shortmemos, briefing charts, talking points, social media channels, speeches, webcontent and formal reports. The successful candidate must be able to work aspart of a research team with senior staff of the Center. Other administrativetasks include conference planning, grant administration, and generaladministrative assistance. This position reports to a division director at theCenter.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in an applicable social science relatedfield, or combination of education and experience in an applicable socialscience.

  • Excellentcomputer skills (including Microsoft Office 2007, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, andAdobe InDesign) and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
  • Familiaritywith data analysis methods and SAS, SPSS, or R is preferred.
  • Ability towork under deadlines with general guidance, independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellentcommunication, problem solving and organizational skills, and demonstratedability to diligently complete detailed work thoroughly and accurately.
  • Effectiveoral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeof psychology, law, policy, behavioral economics and/or longevity issues andStanford familiarity is strongly preferred.

WORKINGCONDITIONS

May be required to work non-standard, extended or weekend hours onoccasion.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS*

  • Frequentlyperform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation,lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionallystand/walk, sit, use a telephone, writing by hand, and sort/file paperwork orparts.
  • Rarelytwist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, operatefoot and/or hand controls.
