Job Summary: The Interior Designer I is responsible for independently creating aesthetically pleasing interiors on projects that do not change the building footprint and should be able to navigate complexities with minimal supervision. In addition to being the sole Interior Designer on the above mentioned, this position will assist the Interior Designer II in duties assigned.

Additional Department Summary: The designer will select appropriate finishes and develop basic drawings (Finish schedule, Interior Elevations, and floor patterns). Then, working with campus partners, the designer will determine and author the necessary work orders to complete any finish work. If the project contains a furniture component, the Interior Designer I will be responsible to contact the appropriate vendor, obtain a quote for necessary pieces, explain the procurement process, track the order, schedule the furniture installation, perform a punch, and manage any remaining issues. This position is responsible to coordinate any interior design document closeouts and ensures project archival. As this position is required to handle multiple projects simultaneously, they must demonstrate an ability to manage time effectively.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in interior design from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) institution and 6 months interior design experience. Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge: Good oral and written communications skills. Proficient in AutoCAD and/or ReVIT (or other industry accepted software), MS office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications: Work experience within a University environment.
