Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist V performs advanced IT activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of IT principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards and university policy. Requires a great amount of evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May be responsible for training, assisting or supervising lower level IT personnel and other staff. May lead projects and cross-functional activities.

Additional Department Summary: The Product Manager provides research computer programming support to the Center for Advanced Public Safety (CAPS) within the Department of Computer Science. This position requires complete functional responsibility to external customers for one or more software products. Involves direct customer accountability for all product functionality and must provide direct support to ensure appropriate product up-time and correct product behavior. Works directly with the customer and generally takes little direction regarding product functionality from supervisor. Responsible for ensuring the timeliness of product development schedule directly to the customer.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of professional IT experience, OR Master's degree and three (3) years of professional IT experience, OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional or security technology skills or knowledge of project management methods and applications. May require advanced level training or certification.

Skills and Knowledge: Advanced familiarity with Microsoft .NET technologies. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding. Effective time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in design and development of software applications.
