Position Summary


At Stony Brook Medicine, the Quality Assurance & Training Assistant will be responsible to developreports and data analysis. Additional responsibility includes assisting with qualityassessment and assurance. Training will be developed using various media ie;Visio, Power Point, Adobe Captivate and other training modes. Incumbent mustbecome proficient in all aspects of Patient Access Department positions.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, knowledge and understanding of patient care and effectively respond to changing patient needs by making decisions based on ethical principles and adhering to our high standard of excellence.



Duties of the Quality Assurance & Training Assistant may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Utilizestools to review and analyze registration data for content and accuracy. Assistin the development, monitoring, analysis of quality reports and relatedmaterials addressing the registration process, cash collection process,scheduling and the financial investigation product produced. Identify, qualifyand address problems in current process. Corrects errors in EHR / EMR systemsand forwards to the Training and QA Manager for follow-up and correction.Reporting shall include a daily, weekly, monthly & Yearly summary, which includesthe percentage of Medical record Number errors / combines & Uncombines.

  • Provide support to the Training and QA Manager with development and implementation of initiatives to improve and enhance performance and services. Responsible for the result reporting of ongoing analysis and continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Assistwith QA and training in all areas and aspects in Patient Access Services Departmentincluding registrations, cashiering, financial investigations, workflowdata collection, assignment of MRN and insurance verifications, etc.

  • Completesother special projects or assignments as assigned when modifications oradjustments are made to statistical reporting, audit criteria, policies andprocedures, training & training materials including eLearning modules. Participates in ongoing review and modification of departmentpolicies and procedures.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications: Associates Degree. Demonstrated moderate to high (not only basic familiarity) competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio, Publisher, and Power Point). Excellent verbal andwritten communication, computing and multi-tasking skills. Experience in speaking with customers and can workwell with persons who are under stress (such as sick patients and theirdistressed family members). 


Preferred Requirements: Billing experience, Accounts Receivable, banking and/or hospital Patient Access/Registration experience. Familiarity with medicalinsurance benefits, Bed Control Management, data analysis, demonstrated experiencein with EMR computerized registration /financial / IT systems. Knowledge ofmedical terminology.
