Job Summary

The Interdisciplinary Program in Jewish Studies seeks to hire a highly motivated, social media savvy, well-organized, detail-oriented, and intellectually engaged undergraduate to help with administrative tasks, public relations, and social media coordination for Jewish Studies at UK. The qualified candidate will contribute to projects that include but are not limited to the creation and distribution of newsletter content (in print and digital formats); the design and implementation of effective marketing materials for Jewish Studies course offerings, public lectures, events, and programs; the management and development of Jewish Studies’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, as well as its website. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn about one of the fastest growing interdisciplinary programs on campus!

The position will prepare you for a variety of professional jobs (careers in administration, human resources, advertising/marketing, and online communication among them) and will require you to commit to 3-5 hours/week for 15 weeks during the semester and may offer opportunities for future employment. You will be required to submit weekly reports accounting for your time.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Qualified candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills in oral, written, and digital contexts; strong time management skills; a willingness to learn new software/technologies, and the ability to work effectively under deadlines and time constraints. Document design, web design, Photoshop or video editing experience will be beneficial to, though not required of candidates.

Candidates must also share an enthusiasm and excitement for intellectual inquiry and be willing to contribute to some of the more mundane activities that necessarily accompany scholarly inquiry at these interdisciplinary intersections (i.e. photocopying, creating PDFs of print material, creating and maintaining bibliographies, filing, and book-fetching).
