Hofstra University is a dynamic community of more than 11,000 students from around the world who are dedicated to civic engagement, academic excellence and becoming leaders in their communities and their careers.Description:Performs secretarial duties on a senior executive level for the department Chairperson in a Complex department consisting of many different programs and degrees primarily at the Master’s level. Serves as general office manager. Maintains departmental files, personnel files, and student records in a confidential manner. Acts as a liaison with various administrative offices, such as the Dean’s Office, Provost’s Office, Financial/Academic Records Office, Plant, and Bulletin Office. Types correspondence, reports, memoranda, curriculum materials, purchase orders, requisitions, and other forms. Maintains appointment and meeting schedules. Oversees the Master and Audit schedules each semester and uses Workflow for ongoing course schedule changes. Hires, supervises, and trains student aides. Collects application materials from potential candidates applying for academic or administrative positions in the department. Responds to telephone inquiries and visitors. Directly assists with at least one of the Departmental programs with their specific programmatic needs. May perform other duties not specifically identified above, but which require the same degree of skill and which are normally included with the above job title.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm

Qualifications:Proficient skills in Microsoft software and other related programs. Excellent organizational skills, attention-to-detail, flexibility, follow through, communication, and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete tasks.
