About the PositionThe Study Abroad Operation Coordinator will champion all aspects of SJSU internationalization by managing the Study Abroad and Away Office with superior customer service to students, staff, and faculty, and members of the community, maintaining a smooth application system and database records of all international activities.
Required Qualifications-Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
-Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications-Graduate degree in International Education or related area.
-One year of professional experience in an administrative role.
-Experience working in a study abroad office.
-Experience studying or working abroad.
-Experience working with faculty-led programming.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities-Extensive knowledge of study abroad requirements
-Ability to accomplish detailed work properly under deadlines
-Ability to input and retrieve data, create reports and charts from a database
-Ability to maintain professional and successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as global and sponsoring agencies
-Ability to conduct research and gather relevant data
-Ability to advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required
-Knowledge of SJSU UP procedures/policies
-Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to strategize and work through difficult projects and interactions
-Resourceful, solutions oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and be able to think quickly and adeptly to changing factor, policies, and procedures.

The standard background check includes: criminal check, employment and education verification. Depending on the position, a motor vehicle and/or credit check may be required. All background checks are conducted through the university's third party vendor, Accurate Background. Some positions may also require fingerprinting. SJSU will pay all costs associated with this procedure. Evidence of required degree(s) or certification(s) will be required at time of hire.
