TheDepartment of Pediatrics, Section of Allergy & Immunology has an opening for a full-time (unclassified)Associate Professor position.


Nature of Work: 

We are seeking a new Food Immunotherapy Program Director, Associate Professor. The candidate will participate in building the Food Immunotherapy program at the Anschutz campus.  This work will include treatment strategies, oral (OIT), sublingual (SLIT) and epicutaneous (EPIT) immunotherapies, to help foster protective desensitization, generally understood as a transient shift in threshold reactivity to an allergen as a result of ongoing controlled exposure to that same allergen, against a customized level of ingestion.  In addition, Call coverage for the Allergy & Immunology Section 6-12 weeks per year, including inpatient and outpatient consultations will be required. The candidate will also participate in the teaching of fellows, residents and medical students assigned to her/his clinic and service rotations.

The applicant will have protected time to help expand the Food Immunotherapy programs within the within Children's Hospital Colorado, the Anschutz Medical Campus and across the 7-state referral region.
Job Duties: •Development of protocols for the various foods for administration.
•Development of hospital policies and procedure.
•Provide oversight of the food IT program.
•Provide education for the nurses, medical providers, and schedulers for management of these patients. 
•Track and review side effects and safety outcomes to ensure ongoing quality improvement.
•Collaborate with the food allergy immunotherapy industry trials and the food allergy immunotherapy clinical program; analyze data, prepare and submit manuscripts describing the main findings of clinical studies.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:•MD or DO degree.•At least 3-5 years' experience in treating foodallergies.
•Applicants should have successfully completed a pediatric residency and anAllergy and Immunology Fellowship.•Should be recognized as BoardCertified/Eligible by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
•A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on orbefore the hire date.
Preferred Qualifications:•Experience with performing food challenges, bothclinically and in research.
•Experience in performing food immunotherapy in clinical practice and/orthrough clinical trials.
•Knowledge in identifying the risks, side effects, and allergic reactions thatcan come with various forms of food immunotherapy.
•Peer-reviewed publication history.
Competencies:•Excellent ability to understand and utilizeknowledge of Food Allergies and Food Immunotherapy.
•Knowledge and ability to provide expert oversight and medical management ofchildren with complex allergic and immunologic diseases who often have othersignificant medical issues.
•Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills and must be astrong team player.
•Commitment to Patient Safety, Quality Care, Communication, and CustomerService.
•Ability to collaborate with physicians, physician assistants, and nurses toform a high performing medical team.
•Ability to work within cross-cultural and cross-populations.
•Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
Conditions of Employment: •Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug testthrough Children's Hospital Colorado.
•Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offenderbackground check.
