Assistant Director, Off Campus Student Services

The Assistant Director of Off-Campus Student Services is responsible for providing services and programs aimed at fostering the involvement of undergraduates and graduate students living off-campus, assisting in apartment and roommate searches, advocating for the needs of off-campus students, providing consultation to the College on the off-campus population to inform institutional response, and serving as a liaison between the college and the greater Boston area. The Assistant Director also helps support Week of Welcome (Fall and Winter) and other transitional programs for members of the Emerson community.

  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate undergraduate Emerson student staff, including the Community Ambassador program.
  • Experience with Boston or other urban area real estate, rental property managers, landlords, housing court, city and state advocacy agencies are desirable.
  • Experience with performance arts majors and/or communication majors or populations, performers and talent agencies helpful.
  • Provide resources, advice and guidance to students regarding off-campus housing related issues; Maintains open communication with off-campus students, property managers and college departments; Plan and implement related programs and workshops to meet the needs of the off-campus population (Neighborhood Series, For Rent Housing Resource Fair, LA/Boston Housing Fair, etc).
  • Maintain comprehensive apartment listings, Manage OCSS Website; Roommate database,
  • Maintains open communication with off-campus students, property managers and college departments; Manage the
    campus wide MBTA Discount Pass Program and support activities of the Off-Campus Network.

    • Administer Off-Campus Student Services annual budget.
    • Serve as a liaison between the College and Boston/Greater Boston community partners (i.e. Town and Gown, Problem Property Task Force, Boston Area Housing Coalition, etc).
    • Assist with New Student Orientation and coordinate the Week of Welcome events, Family Weekend, Admission related events and activities, Undergraduate Commencement Line Up.

    Grade of Position: A16E

    Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

    Hiring Range: $61,350.00 - $64,300.00
