Job Description:

The Department of Literatures and Languages at Mills College invites applications for an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Creative Writing, Poetry to teach two poetry workshops. The undergraduate and MFA Creative Writing programs at Mills College are among the most diverse in the country and alumnae regularly go on to publish, teach, and edit. The successful candidate will have published at least one book of poetry; be conversant with a wide range of literary and aesthetic traditions; and have significant teaching experience.

The Assistant Adjunct Professor will be responsible for teaching 2 poetry workshops during the Spring 2020 semester, one beginning workshop at the undergraduate level, and one graduate level workshop in the MFA program. They will also give a reading as part of the Contemporary Writers Series.

Requirements:

Candidates Should Have:

  • An MFA in Creative Writing
  • Experience teaching poetry workshops at both the undergraduate and graduate level
  • A strong publication record
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to work with a diverse and dynamic student population

    Additional Information:

    This is an exempt, part-time position. The compensation includes state-mandated benefits including Social Security, State Disability Insurance, Workers Compensation Insurance, Unemployment Insurance and Sick Day accrual. Employees also receive free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts.
