Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Student Success Coordinator-Retention, Equity and Inclusion
Job status: Exempt, Full Time

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports To: Assistant Dean of Students
Supervises: No professional staff supervision; Supervises student employees

Administrative Functions (40%)

	
  • Lead the recruitment, selection, programmatic, logistics and coordination of bridge programs including Summer Academic Workshop, Hellman programs, Oakland Promise Leadership Academy, and yearlong integration efforts.
  • 	
  • Serve as the primary lead onsite during summer bridge programs for student support and referrals to other campus support systems.
  • 	
  • Supervise summer and yearlong student program assistants, tutors, and other support positions.
  • 	
  • Under the direction of Assistant Dean of Students, the Coordinator will work closely with divisional and college departments to facilitate student success programs for students who participate in the SBPs and other transitional programs.
  • 	
  • Assist in the preparation of reports as required, e.g., operations, programming, retention, and assessment and administrative reports.
  • 	
  • Participate in the development of marketing and communication materials (print, audio, and web) about on-going related student initiatives and programming.
  • 	
  • Attend and provide administrative support to weekly department, committee, and individual meetings central to student success initiatives.
  • 	
  • Perform related duties as needed.
  • Community Development (40%)

    	
  • Co-develop and promote social, cultural and educational programing to enhance engagement and support for the successful transition of student populations participating in SBPs and first generation initiatives.
  • 	
  • Provide effective guidance, tracking and support for various campus success initiatives in event planning, fiscal budget management, and organizational development.
  • 	
  • Serve as a liaison to key community partners such as first generation CBOs, Oakland Promise, Impact Hub.
  • 	
  • Provide drop-in services for students and community partners.
  • Student Support and Supervision (20%)

    	
  • Be available to students via regularly scheduled office hours and regular contact with the Mills and greater community.
  • 	
  • In partnership with the Center for Leadership, Equity and Excellence develop and facilitate leadership opportunities and resources to assist student leaders and student staff in further development.
  • 	
  • Assist the Assistant Dean of Students in the assessment of learning outcomes and effectiveness of services and programs.
  • Requirements:

    	
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 	
  • Student or professional experience in social justice education, advocacy, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting equity and inclusion.
  • 	
  • Demonstrated expertise in event planning and management.
  • 	
  • Knowledge of and practice engaging in social justice work regarding power and privilege dynamics.
  • 	
  • Ability to exhibit strong interpersonal skills with all levels of College constituencies and members of the public.
  • 	
  • Ability to take appropriate steps to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
  • 	
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Additional Information:

    This is a full-time, exemptposition with an FTE of 1.0. Salary is commensurate with experience, andincludes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with college-matching after 6 month qualifying period, 10 days of vacation for year one, 15 days of vacation for years 2-10, and 22 days of vacation years 10+ plus, 12 sick days and 17 paid holidays (subject to annual review). Staff members also receive free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Tuition remission is also available after an introductory period. Voluntary benefits include: pet insurance, long-term care insurance, legal-assistance insurance, cellular provider discounts and computer hardware discounts.
