General Summary of Position:

The Safe Home Care Project is a unique research intervention project at the University of Massachusetts Lowell to improve the occupational safety and health of home care aides. The key role of the Research Technology and Training Specialist will be to support the development and deployment of a smartphone application (“app”) for data acquisition at multiple study sites in Massachusetts. This includes working directly with the application developer and researchers to tailor the app for implementing health and safety interventions in home care work environments. The Specialist will provide training and ongoing coaching to end users of the app (home care case managers and aides) and will oversee the download and transition of data for analysis, as well as translating and disseminating the research findings and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Master of Science in Occupational Hygiene
  • At least 10 years’ experience in worksite project management and employee coaching and training, with a focus on technology implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and provide leadership
  • Proven aptitude for procuring scientific equipment, working with technology developers and vendors, and the use of and training others on technology for data collection and analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH)

This position is contingent upon funding. The initial appointment will be for up to one year with a possibility of renewal based on productivity and performance and the availability of funding.
