Development Technician V Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201910117601 50% Part Time Other $65,041 - $78,446 Position Information The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support for research and sales for service testing. The support includes, but is not limited to: working closely with faculty, staff, and graduate students on installing and assisting with equipment setup, installing exhaust and sampling system for a CVS laboratory, train and coordinate exhaust and vehicle connections for dyno testing, trouble shoot systems (ABS, brakes, ITS components) for emissions testing, operate chassis dyno by driving traces, and general mechanical work. Eligible candidate must posses a valid class A driver's license.

The Bourns College of Engineering, Center for Environmental Research & Technology (CE-CERT)'s mission is to be a recognized leader in environmental education, a collaborator with industry and government to improve the technical basis for regulations and policy, a creative source of new technology, and a contributor to a better understanding of the environment. Minimum Requirements Must posses a valid class A driver's license
Experience with fabrication and assembly of complex equipment and experiment design. Experience with installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of equipment in a research laboratory.
Experience with incorporating factors such as cost, operational life, tolerances, surface finishes, and corrosion in the assembly and fabrication of equipment.
Skill in performing mathematical calculations necessary to perform the job responsibilities.
Skill in communicating effectively with the general public clearly and coherently.
Skill in organizing tasks, documents and materials with efficiency and accuracy. Experience in directing, organizing, and prioritizing workload to meet required deadlines and research objectives.
Skill in reading and understanding technical documents such as complex technical procedures, instructions, manuals, diagrams, and schematic drawings.
Experience with training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of assigned personnel. Experience in overseeing projects from initial to final stage.
Skill and experience building, trouble-shooting, and enhancing computers and computer operating systems, especially in the event of hard drive failure during testing at off site or remote locations.
Knowledge of safety rules and regulations. Knowledge Hazardous Material.
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and seven years of technical and craft experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Highly energetic and ability to multi-task during testing.
Experience operating heavy equipment.
Experience with principles and methods of training or instructing individuals in safety-related topics.
