Position Responsibilities

The Theology Department at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in systematic theology. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in liberation theologies, including but not limited to Black, Womanist, Asian, Native American or Latinx theologies. Ability to teach courses in sacramental theology and ecclesiology is desirable.

Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will have responsibilities in teaching, research, and service. The teaching load is six courses (24 credits) per academic year, usually 3 sections in the fall and spring semesters (3/3 schedule) but sometimes including a January-term course (3/1/2 or 2/1/3 schedule). Applicants should expect to teach both introductory and upper level courses in a variety of formats: face-to-face/traditional classroom, hybrid, and fully online.

The College for Women is the heart of St. Catherine University. The selected candidate will teach primarily in the College for Women, with occasional courses in the College for Adults and the Graduate College, both of which welcome men and women students. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to educating women and an understanding of the pedagogical challenges and opportunities involved in placing women at the center of theological study.

Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to university service. The selected candidate will be responsible for advising undergraduate students and is expected to engage in service activities with the department, the university, professional organizations, and the community. The department values both independent and collaborative scholarship, and is actively involved in the university’s collaborative undergraduate research programs. Applicants should be prepared to work collaboratively to support students who are passionate about social justice and plan to use their training to lead and influence.

Position Qualifications

Required qualifications:
Ph.D., S.T.D. or ABD in theology or related field. Must have defended dissertation by August 15, 2020.
