The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering offers undergraduate degrees in civil engineering, construction engineering, and environmental engineering. Graduate programs are offered with specialties in computing and systems, construction engineering, water resources, coastal and environmental engineering, structural engineering and mechanics, transportation systems and materials, geotechnical/ geoenvironmental engineering, and mechanics and materials. The colleague we are seeking will join a vibrant department with 49 faculty members, over 700 undergraduates and 340 graduate students. Want to know more? The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at North Carolina State University (NCSU) expects to fill a position in the area of Geotechnical Engineering. Areas of interest include the dynamic behavior of unsaturated soils, rock mechanics, and other areas where innovation in geotechnical engineering leads to improvements in sustainable and resilient civil infrastructure. We seek candidates with demonstrated strengths in geotechnical/geomechanics engineering. The CCEE department has many excellent laboratories and is planning to move to a new building on NCSU’s Centennial Campus in 2020.
We seek candidates who are able to develop and maintain a nationally recognized and externally funded research program within their area of expertise, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and collaborate across disciplines.
Successful candidates should be able to participate in multidisciplinary initiatives to support the missions of the department and the college. While we expect to hire at the assistant professor level, applicants at all ranks are encouraged to apply.Other Work/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Education/Experience
An earned doctorate degree in civil engineering or a closely related field is required.Departmental Required Skills
We seek individuals with strong domain expertise who have a demonstrated interest in working with colleagues in other areas of civil engineering (and/or across other disciplines) to address emerging research questions aimed at the betterment of civil infrastructure.Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Post-doctoral experience, professional experience, and a professional engineering license are desirable, but not required.Required License or Certification
