The William & Mary School of Education seeks an innovative, experienced, and entrepreneurial leader to serve as the Clinical Associate Professor – Online Counseling Program Director. The university’s Online Counseling Program offers an alternative to the traditional delivery model for a Master’s in clinical mental health, clinical mental health military and veterans counseling, and school counseling without sacrificing the quality education historically associated with the university. The Online Counseling Program is a CACREP-accredited program. The Online Counseling Program Director will provide leadership for the vision, strategic planning, and management of quality online academic programming for counseling graduate programs. The online counseling program director will collaborate with academic leaders within the School of Education to design, develop, and deliver contextually rich, engaging courses and programs.

The Clinical Associate Professor – Online Counseling Program Coordinator is responsible for the leadership and administration of the Online Counseling program, including oversight of the academic program, recruitment and retention of students, advising, course scheduling, faculty assignments, and budget. The Clinical Associate Professor – Online Counseling Program Coordinator will be involved in the admission process to include final approval of applicants to the online program. These functions are performed in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Academic Programs and the university’s online integration partner. The Director will also be responsible for updating and maintaining procedures consistent with national-level policies, accreditation standards, and institutional practices. The successful candidate will be expected to lead planning and execution of the on-campus residencies associated with the Online Counseling Program.

The Clinical Associate Professor – Online Counseling Program Coordinator is a twelve-month position with summer teaching and administrative responsibilities. This non-tenure eligible position will begin in Spring 2019 at the earliest or Fall 2020 at the latest. The successful candidate will be located at the main campus in Williamsburg, Virginia. The position will require teaching graduate courses in counseling and can expect to teach four courses per year as part of this position. The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism, collaboration, and work toward continuous improvement as part of a team. The ideal candidate should lead new student recruitment activities related to the Online Counseling Program in conjunction with the university’s integration partner.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:
(a)An earned doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP accredited institution;
(b)A clear and well-articulated counselor educator identity;
©Current licensure and/or ability to obtain counseling licensure in Virginia;
(d)Direct experience in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or Professional School Counseling;
(e)Direct experience in teaching, developing, or implementing online programs;
(f)A professional orientation that supports diversity and social justice in the counseling field;
(g)Record of active engagement in the counseling profession; and,
(h)Have excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to those who:
(a)Prior experience supervising master’s level counseling trainees in a mental health agency or professional school counseling setting;
(b)Prior experience with aligning online courses and programs with the 2016 CACREP accreditation Standards; and,
©Prior college, university, or agency administrative experience.
