This individual assists with the growth and development of the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program, which includes marketing services, recruitment, training, scheduling, and evaluating undergraduate peer leaders. This position also includes assisting with the planning and logistical coordination of academic success workshops and events.
This position is funded through September 30, 2024, continuation of this position is dependent on continued funding beyond this date.

Essential Duties

MAJOR DUTIES
Assist with oversight of Supplemental Instruction program (50%)
• Identify high D, F, and W courses and encourage faculty to engage collaboratively to arrange an SI group for their courses.
• Assist with the recruitment and hiring of peer leaders to identify quality candidates to comprise a strong team
• Assist with the development and implementation of peer leader training to ensure student leadership and program success
• Assist with the observation and evaluation of peer leaders annually to maintain high quality instruction and ethical conduct.
• Maintain ongoing contact with faculty for exam grades and reporting throughout each semester to monitor student progress.
• Gather student leader assessment/evaluation data each semester and report on program efficacy

Workshop/Event Planning (25%)
• Assist in the planning, organizing, and coordinating of various academic success workshops
• Oversee the preparation and dissemination of print and electronic marketing related to events and workshops.
• Work with faculty to develop collaborative student success opportunities and initiatives

Provides outreach (10%)
• Participates in new student orientation activities.
• Provides outreach to faculty concerning the SI program and workshops

Participates within various unit (10%)
• Collaborates with other offices to connect students to resources that facilitate student success
• Participates in campus and community events related to academic success.
Assists with Institutional Effectiveness (5%)
• Assists in reporting student progression and success that have a direct impact on student retention.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES AND/OR COMPETENCIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
• Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of computers and job related software programs.
• Knowledge of issues and trends related to adult learners.
• Knowledge of academic skills support
• Skill in decision making and problem solving.
• Skill in the completion of a variety of reports.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

Minimum Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree required.
• One year of related work experience
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and assessment skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of academic skills and student development issues associated with undergraduate student populations, especially those that require enhanced academic skills support.

Physical Demands

• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
• The work is typically performed in an office.
