Primary Position Function:
The College of Education seeks a postdoctoral research associate for the Center for Education in Small Urban Communities (CESUC). The fellow will take the lead in designing, analyzing, and interpreting data pertaining to the Center’s Teacher Professional Development research project. The Center employs a model for teacher professional development that supports whole-school reform. The model is based on the increased competency in the use of high leverage teaching strategies and a collaborative teaching workplace. Utilizing a cycle of continuous improvement, classroom teachers engage in a process to support their efforts in growing instructional practice in core subject areas. As such, the focus of the research project is to examine this approach in order to gauge its impact.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
75%: Research Design and Analysis
- Design and implement research protocols
- Collect, prepare and analyze research data
- Maintain computer database of research data
- Interpret data and develop presentations for research conferences and research papers
- Use statistical software to analyze and present data
25%: Disseminate Research Findings
- Work collaboratively with team to disseminate research findings through various outlets including media, professional conferences, and research papers
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Required: Applicants must have their PhD, EdD, or equivalent research degree.
Preferred: Experience in working with schools either through direct services or collaborations with K-12 schools to conduct research.
- Training in quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Experience working independently and with research groups
- Excellent oral and written skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required: Strong computer skills with programs such as SPSS, ATLAS, or similar software
This is a 12-month appointment and may be renewed for a second year depending on the availability of funds. Salary is commensurate with experience and skills. Proposed start date is December 1, 2019.
