Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Digital Platforms, Data, and Cloud Team Lead, this position performs professional IS work within the UW-Madison Athletic Department's Technical Services unit responsible for development and technical projects related to the Division's digital platforms (web, mobile, data, and cloud), applications, services, and systems. The incumbent will utilize various programming languages and frameworks, as assigned by the Team Lead. The position provides technical support, assistance, and training to staff members affiliated with the Division and its partners. As assigned by the Team Lead, this position will create applications, databases, micro-services, and systems that support student athletes, coaches, volunteers, the public, and staff which are connected to various data systems and APIs. This position also works to support assigned third-party applications, systems, and data integrations.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; ideally in information systems, computer science, information technology, business information systems, computer engineering or related fields with experience in software development. Consideration will be given to candidates with a degree in another field who have relevant work experience.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Required Qualifications Include:

  • Two or more years of experience with Microsoft .Net (C#, ASP.net, .NET Core, Visual Studio) development
  • Experience with, and developing, RESTFul based API backend services and micro-service software and services
  • Experience Relevant Web / Internet Technologies
  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Angular, Bootstrap, MVC, and TypeScript
  • Experience with Entity Framework and SQL or T-SQL
  • Preferred Work Experiences and Technologies With/On:

  • Git and Azure DevOps / Visual Studio Team Services
  • Microsoft Azure and or Amazon Web Services
  • SASS, LESS, WebPack, NPM, Node.js.
  • Java/Kotlin, Swift, Objective C
  • Windows Forms, Universal Windows Platform, or XAML
  • .NET Core, Xamarin, and Xamarin.Forms
  • Knowledge of or experience with Document Databases
  • Material and Responsive Design Concepts and methodologies
  • RESTFul API Development and Documentation
  • Postman, Fiddler, Swagger, Swashbuckle, etc.
  • Other Skills and Experiences:

  • Attention to detail, organization, and planning.
  • Technical documentation writing and editing
  • Ability to develop and work collaboratively with other Team members (developers)
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical team members.

    Conditions of Appointment: This is 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
