Position Summary:

University Marketing serves as the central campus resource for marketing and public relations for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Marketing Manager reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Marketing. The right candidate will fill a unique position working with campus partners to lead high level projects, programs, and initiatives to advance UW Madison's vision and strategic priorities.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for providing marketing leadership by developing marketing plans and programs that achieve specific business goals, drive engagement/advancement, and promote the UW Brand. This includes utilizing market data to define strategies, identify appropriate audiences, and create awareness of new opportunities to enhance the UW experience based on quantitative and qualitative findings.

The Marketing Manager position requires organization, flexibility, a highly collaborative nature, and the ability to evolve with changing priorities. You are a big picture thinker with an eye for detail. You will work directly with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Marketing to set priorities, define outcomes, manage working groups and report on the status of projects. This position requires a team player with an ability to function effectively in the highly complex and decentralized environment of UW-Madison.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Graduate of accredited four-year college with a preference in Marketing, Marketing Communications, Business, or related field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' work experience in marketing or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of marketing best practices, brand value, and marketing strategies and tactics, including writing, developing and executing marketing plans.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex projects across different units.
- Data analysis/interpretation skills.
- Excellent writing, communication, and editing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

- Ability to build collaborative relationships and functional working teams with people from diverse backgrounds.

- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing projects and leading groups.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Knowledge and passion for UW-Madison and higher ed are a plus.
