Position Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating the campus' energy conservation and strategic planning efforts. The coordination of energy sourcing and consumption requires partnerships and collaborations with the campus utility and energy management department, physical plant, research office (including principle investigators [PI]), academic enterprise (Schools, Centers & Departments), athletics, capital planning & development, business operations, facility managers, the University of Wisconsin-System, the Wisconsin Union Directorate, students, student organizations, municipal governments, county governments, and utility providers.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A bachelor's degree required with major studies in engineering, sustainability, business or a related field. Master's degree in similar fields with a focus on strategic planning strongly Preferred. .

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of two to six years of professional experience leading comprehensive strategic initiatives, or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Additional Information:

Competencies and Skills: The preferred candidate will have proven proficiency in the following areas:
- Governance, Policy & Legislation. Demonstrated experience working with the governance structure of a university. A minimum of five years of experience working with legislated policy and regulatory requirements. Demonstration of adaptability through changing political climates while maintaining transparency in working with the various constituencies involved in the work.
- Information and Analytics. Demonstrated expertise in using qualitative and quantitative data in assessing the effectiveness of operations and ensuring that decisions are supported by data.
- Strategic and Operational Planning. Ability to coalesce multiple stakeholder strategic plans to ensure that the resources needed to achieve institutional and divisional goals are supported in the campus energy plan and vice versa.
- Prioritization and Allocation of Resources. Demonstrated experience in prioritizing the human, financial, and capital resources to advance the priorities of the institution. Possess the skills necessary to successfully navigate situations where resources are impacted by competing interests.
- Advocacy and Mobilizing/Motivating Others. Demonstrated ability to mobilize stakeholders to champion initiatives by establishing trust and mutual respect for colleagues. Minimum five years of experience in communicating complex systems to laymen and average consumers through a variety of media channels and platforms.

- Forward-looking. While focusing on the current state of the organization, always surveys the landscape for trends and issues that may impact the institution in the future. Is willing and able to use data and other resources to develop conceptual plans to address trends and issues on the horizon.
