The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis provides leadership and support to both the University’s treasury-related operations as well as financial forecasting, annual budgeting process, operating/capital plan variance analysis and special projects, as assigned. They will provide financial consulting and strategic support for optimal decision making including preparing financial presentations, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunities, and other projects, as assigned. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Finance.Duties and Responsibilities
•Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
•Ad-Hoc reporting and analysis
•Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
•Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations for decision making purposes
•Supporting Departments heads with in-depth analysis
•Serve as administrator of the University’s Planning Systems
•Guide and manage the planning and annual budget process, as assigned.
•Support treasury functions including: cash management and reporting/analysis, investment management/analysis and reporting, and debt compliance.
•Provide oversight to daily banking transaction, ensuring they are performed timely and in adherence to internal controls.
•Work cross-functionally throughout the organization, ensuring integrated financial planning and analysis, awareness of issues, and promoting shared best practices.
•Administer lease financing and reporting/analysis/compliance.
•Coordinate claims and assist with risk management plans and initiatives
•Participate in annual insurance policy renewal, ensuring adequate coverage and alignment to industry best practices
•Identify, develop and facilitate processes and improvements in planning, analysis and reporting. This includes leveraging information technology to automate, streamline, and integrate processes.
• Work with multiple systems, i.e., Dynamics, Management Reporter, Budget Maestro, CAMS, Sage, and Powerfaids for use in information retrieval and analyses.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
•MBA or related Advanced Degree or Certification (CPA, CMA, etc…) preferred
•Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in accounting or finance and financial/business planning and analysis required.
•Previous experience in higher education a plus.
•Nonprofit experience is desirable.
