Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Department of Professional Learning and Innovation has four program areas to include IT/Library Media, Educational Leadership, Reading/Literacy, and Foundations of Education.

Primary Purpose of Position

This position will support the undergraduate teacher education candidates as well as teachers seeking IT Certification and IT professionals seeking advanced knowledge and skills.

Key Functions and Job Duties

Faculty - Teaching/Instructing

Teaching Responsibilities
- Regular course meetings and instruction as defined in the position description
- Mentoring students
- Ability to contribute to the core curriculum.
Faculty responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in Instructional Technology, engagement in scholarly activities, and service to the program, department, university, profession, and community.

Faculty - Scholarship and Creative Activity

Faculty are expected to engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
– Presentations at professional meetings
– Membership and participation in professional organizations

Faculty - Public Service

Public Service is often a part of the service expectations and might include activities, such as the following.
– Consulting work
– Service to the profession
– Membership and participation in community organizations
– Other significant services to the community

Faculty - Service to Institution

Service to the Institution includes:
- Committee memberships and offices
- Programs directed and advised
- Participation in special programs or projects
- Other service in the institution

Minimum qualifications:  Ph.D./Ed.D.
Minimum 18 Graduate Semester hours in the academic discipline being taught.

Department required skills: A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Instructional Technology is required before the effective date of employment. The successful candidate will be assigned teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate/graduate levels. The position requires teaching and research primarily in Instructional Technology. The willingness and expertise to teach in the library media area is a plus. We also value research collaboration with undergraduates. An active scholarship program is required along with campus and community service.

Higher education teaching experience is desirable.

Experience in online instructional design and online teaching is preferred.
