Job TitleStudent Services CoordinatorJob Summary

Primary role is to accurately record all cash receipts received by the College, properly depositing these funds to the College’s bank accounts, and to ensure these monies balance with receipts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Processes the College’s cash and credit card receipts from all sources (students, Institutional Advancement, etc) and ensure the proper coding of such receipts utilizing Eullician Banner system
•Reviews and closes cashier’s session daily. Balance daily transactions to Cashier’s Detail Report in Banner and with Suntrust banking reports. Close and finalize cashier sessions daily.
•Prepares cash deposits as needed.
•Maintains petty cash account which includes processing requests for approved petty cash reimbursements and replenish petty funds as needed;
•Deposits, Feeds and Files Institutional Advancement Cashiering Sessions
•Distributes payroll checks to students, faculty and staff as well as distribute vendor checks processed by Account Payable;
•Distributes student refund checks;
•Answers inquiries regarding student accounts.
•Monitors payment plans in TouchNet
•Sends delinquent accounts to collection agencies.
•Maintains appropriate files for all payments received and accounts referred for collections
•Participates in student registration process for the fall and spring semesters which includes processing student payments

Required Qualifications

Bachelors’ Degree and two years of accounting and collection experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience are required. Bachelors’ degree in Accounting Preferred.

The incumbent must have knowledge of basic accounting procedures, money management and computer skills. Possess excellent interpersonal skills, record keeping techniques, organizational, and customer service skills. Also, must possess the ability to prioritize effectively, must be able to interact in a diverse community, must be detailed oriented, possess the ability to handle multiple tasks, and able to adapt to changing situations. Additionally, must be bondable.

Good oral and written communication skills are required, with the ability to read, analyze and general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Incumbent must have good proofreading skills. The ability to speak effectively when interacting with the public and the entire Spelman community is a must. Also, the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel). Duties include such things as typing basic letters and memos. Also, must be able to utilize e-mail systems such as Lotus Notes or Outlook. Familiar with Banner (college database system) is a plus.

    Dedicated, talented, and well-qualified faculty members are a hallmark of Spelman College.
