Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:

Desired qualifications include a record of excellence in higher education administration; an established body of peer-reviewed scholarship and/or creative activity at the national and international levels; commitment to the scholar-artist model that is integral to the department’s philosophical mission; a record of effective teaching; understanding of and passion for a Bachelor of Arts program that emphasizes the professional practice of dance and dance scholarship within a liberal arts context; excellence commensurate with tenure, and appointment to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (The rank of Professor will only be granted to candidates who demonstrate a strong record of both written scholarship and professional creative activity, as per the Kennesaw State University, Department of Dance promotion and tenure guidelines.); a history of ethical and transparent fiscal and budgetary management; a record of excellence in performance curation; experience with program accreditation and assessment; a record of ethical leadership, rooted in advocacy towards student learning, faculty/staff development, shared governance, and innovative program development; and an established record of fundraising (evidenced by dollars raised) and board development.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Completion of an earned terminal degree in the field of dance (Ph.D., M.F.A., Ed.D. or foreign equivalent).

As the largest collegiate dance program in the state of Georgia, the KSU Department of Dance employs 16 full/part-time faculty, and is housed in state-of-the-art dance facilities, including metropolitan Atlanta’s only Dance Theater. Concentrations in ballet and modern are offered through the B.A. in Dance that was started in 2009. The KSU Dance Company received top regional honors at the 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2018 American College Dance Festivals, and performed at the national festivals held at the Miller Theatre in NYC and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
