Program Coordinator (Special events), Centers & Institutes - Georgetown University Law Center

Georgetown law's Centers & Institutes develop innovative legal and policy solutions to major challenges of our time while engaging and educating the next generation of leaders. One of many ways this is accomplished is through holding convenings and events for students, faculty, and external stakeholders. The Centers & Institutes' Events and Operations Coordinator will coordinate the planning, design, and execution of events hosted by individual centers and institutes as well as provide operational and administrative support.

Towards this end, the Program Coordinator will work closely with the Office of Special Events to keep them informed of center and institute events and plans and develop best practices and procedures that are inline with Law Center policies. As Centers & Institutes resident events expert, this position will be responsible for communicating processes, protocols, and deadlines to C&I staff, responding to all inquiries, obtaining appropriate approvals, helping to manage event budgets, arranging all event needs (i.e., space, catering, audio/ visual, etc.) and more.

In addition, this position will be providing operational and administrative support with human resource related functions, including the development and maintenance of onboarding processes for center and institute staff, coordinating with centers and institutes to onboard new staff , maintenance of organizational charts and position descriptions, and relevant reporting functions.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years event management experience required along with a proven ability to balance multiple priorities and work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, a service-oriented attitude, and have the ability to be discreet and prioritize competing demands
  • The ability to work early mornings and evenings on occasion to support events is necessary.

Preferred qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Social Tables, EMS and other event-specific software i
  • Human resource experience
