Sr. Fund Manager Supervisor
University of California, Los Angeles

Requisition Number: 31414
Salary: $4842 - $9591 monthly

Position Description:
The Senior Fund Manager Supervisor leads the financial services of all operational and sponsored research activity for the Physiology Group, which includes the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology (IBP); Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Center; Undergraduate Neuroscience IDP (uNSIDP); and Molecular, Cellular & Integrative Physiology IDP (MCIP) in the Life Sciences Division. The incumbent works closely with a team of four fund managers and one purchasing coordinator to provide a full-spectrum of contract and grant services to approximately 25 Principal Investigators (PIs), including review and authorization of pre-award proposals; analyses and reporting of account activity and budgets; interpretation and explanation of University and extramural funding agency accounting procedures and requirements; and solving any unusual or challenging problems. The incumbent is also responsible for the financial management of unrestricted funds and the departmental operating budgets, including short- and long-term planning for permanent and temporary funds from multiple state and university sources.

This position requires strong financial management and analytical skills to project current and future funding needs, foresee short- and long-term expense trends, and ensure that project financial goals and objectives are successfully achieved. The Senior Fund Manager independently defines clear goals and objectives, establishes priorities, and implements best practices and methodologies for the Physiology Group's business office. The incumbent also plays a leadership role in development of departmental policies for fund management and contract and grant administration, ensuring that unit goals are met and compliant with University and sponsoring agency policies. Leadership skills are also required to supervise, train, and support the work of five other team members to ensure the financial integrity of the accounts administered. The duties of the position require frequent interaction with program officers and staff at federal and state funding agencies, as well as those in key university administrative units such as Office of Contract and Grant Administration, Extramural Fund Management, Accounting, and Payroll. The Senior Fund Manager Supervisor skillfully utilizes front-end tools for collection of financial information used in preparation of periodic and ad hoc reports for PI's, Chairs, and the CAO.
